Top 5 Saturday: Land ahoy! Books Set Near/On the Sea

‘Top 5 Saturday’ is a meme created by Mandy @ Devouring Books, where you list your top 5 books of the current topic – these can be books that you want to read, have read and loved, have read and hated, etc. etc.!

Today’s topic: 5 books set near/on the sea!

I weirdly haven’t read very many books set on the sea, so these make up the majority of ones I’ve actually read… If you’ve got recommendations please send them my way (or just link me to your Top 5 Saturday post!).

‘Empire of Storms’ (‘Throne of Glass’, #5) by S.J. Maas

There were some pretty epic sea and coastal battles in this one! More so than any of the preceding books in the series.

‘Viper’ (‘Isles of Storm and Sorrow’, #1) by Bex Hogan

Set mostly on the oceans (with a few island stops), this was an exciting read with a resilient heroine.

‘Treading Waves’ (‘Siren Anthology’, #3) by S.R. Atkinson

I love a good mermaid tale and this didn’t disappoint – even though I jumped in at Book 3, it’s easy to understand what’s going on and this under-the-sea book was really atmospheric.

‘Atlantia’ by Ally Condie

Atlantia is an underwater colony in a dystopian future, and I’m in the minority opinion (it seems) as I found it refreshingly original and plenty enthralling.

‘The Ship of the Dead’ (‘Magnus Chase & The Gods of Asgard’, #3) by Rick Riordan

Magnus Chase is probably my favourite Riordanverse protagonist (I know, it shocks me too that he beat Percy), and in this conclusion to his trilogy, Magnus must sail with his friends to delay Ragnarok (basically Doomsday).

Thanks for reading! Do you agree with my picks? Let me know any thoughts/recommendations below!
