The 2020 Book Blogger Awards: My Nominations

It’s time for the Fourth Annual Book Blogger Awards!

Nipping in close to the deadline (July 26 @ 11:59 PM CDT) with my nominations! This is the first time I’m participating and I’m very excited. Shout-outs are fun! I was also pleasantly surprised to have been nominated for a couple of categories which really made me smile ❤️

These Awards are hosted by May @ Forever and Everly and Marie @ Drizzle & Hurricane Books, and the cute graphic is by Kat @ Novels and Waffles.

Go check out May and Marie’s posts (linked above) for all the categories, the rules and more info about the Awards!

(Happily listening to Taylor Swift’s ‘folklore’ while I write this… What’s your favourite one off the new album? I really love ‘the 1’, ‘cardigan’ ‘august’, ‘this is me trying’, ‘invisible string’…to be honest they’re all great.)

✨ BEST OF THEIR AGE ✨

Best Pre-Teen/Teen Book Blogger (13-19)

Ella @ ella isn’t studying has such a pretty blog and posts about books, studying and more! I’m particularly in love with her latest post (at time of writing) featuring aesthetic boards for three historical fiction novels.

Best Adult Book Blogger (20+)

Emer @ A Little Haze Book Blog is one of my favourite bloggers! She writes about such a wide range of books, is super friendly, honest, supportive and engaged with the blogging community and bonus: we share a common love for gifs 😍

✨ BEST GENRE BLOGGERS ✨

Young Adult

Kay @ Hammock of Books writes so many awesome posts about YA fiction! Their latest post (at time of writing) is a particularly fun one all about Marissa Meyer. (Beautiful blog aesthetic too!)

Middle Grade or Younger

Mandy & Sha @ Book Princess Reviews instantly come to mind when I see the words ‘Middle Grade’! I love their Disney Princess ranking system too. Ingenious and so cute.

✨ BEST OF BOOK BLOGGING ✨

Best Book Reviews

I really like how Laura @ The Corner of Laura titles her review posts! ‘In One Word, XX by YY is…’ is such an enticing way to name posts and her reviews are great too. Bullet-pointed reviews make for clear and easy reading!

Best Book Recommendations

Some lovely recommendation posts over on Octavia @ Mermaid Reads‘ gorgeous blog! (That header graphic is just stunning.)

Best Discussion Posts

I remember this awesome discussion post on the importance of #ownvoices reviewers from Emer @ A Little Haze – and I found Hear Our Voices book tours through her signposting, as well as learning about The Spoon Theory and where the term ‘spoonie’ comes from.

Best Blog Aesthetic

Gonna nominate two for this!

I love Madeline @ The Bookish Mutant’s blog design. I have a thing for sticky tape, notepaper, scrapbook-esque aesthetics – and I especially love the ‘Leave a Reply’ envelope on Madeline’s site!

Rae @ Rae’s Reads and Reviews has such an adorable header image! The layout and colour scheme is both easy to read and just gives off that ‘fun’ vibe, you know?

Best Blogging/Writing Voice

Virginia @ The Sassy Library Fox has such enthusiasm and energy in her writing – not just in her posts but also the lovely comments she leaves on my blog. I love seeing her stuff on Goodreads too!

✨ MISCELLANEOUS ✨

Most Helpful (someone who posts thoughtful blogging guides/advice)

E @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook has a really nice post on Spotify audiobooks (it’s from last year but I still found it so useful). I also love the graphics E makes – and she was the one who recommended Canva to me in the first place, yet another time that she’s been super helpful!

Most Engaged in the Community

Rain @ The Withering comes to mind, not just through blog comments but also on book Twitter too!

Most Creative (creative/original posts)

Just scrolling down JJ @ Notes by J’s blog feed, each title/post idea/gorgeous featured photo makes me want to click on the ‘Read More’ by each post.

Best Social Media Influencer

I first met the lovely Tasya @ the literary faerie through bookstagram, and in addition to her blog I highly recommend checking out Tasya’s stunning feed at @tasyareads!

Best Personality

The way Susan @ Novel Lives writes is brimming with personality! Practically leaps off the page and I especially enjoy the copious use of gifs/memes.

Friendliest Member of the Community

I first found Lydia @ Lydia Schoch through the Top Ten Tuesday meme! I really appreciate her comments and she’s always so nice and friendly.

Best at Promoting Diverse Books

I found Aditi @ One in a Million through her excellent post on the Netflix show ‘Never Have I Ever’ (watch it!!! It is SO good) and the need to diversify media – not just books. Bonus that her blog aesthetic is gorgeous too!

Thanks for reading! I’ve loved meeting people in the bookish community and here’s to another year of blogging together ❤️✨

  1. Ah!!!! Thank you so much! The nomination where people talk about my personality make me so happy and touch me deeply because it never worked for me in real life. So when people what you do and that my reviews sound like I’m talking straight to them, I can’t tell everyone what it means!

  4. OMG YOU ARE TOO KIND! *gets all flustered and awkward* Thank you so much for the nominations Sabrina. I feel so honoured to be listed among all these fantastic bloggers. Also I am laughing at the idea of me being a best adult anything because wow do I suck at adulting 😂😂😂 I mean yes, I’m technically an adult. The silver highlights *cough grey hairs cough cough* that keep popping up testify to that but I’m a massively childish otherwise 😅😅😅😅 Thank you again my friend. You are the sweetest 💛💜❤️💖💚🧡💙

  5. Hallo, Hallo Sabrina,

This is my first visit to your lovely blog and it is by way of the route I carved for myself to follow as I’ve announced recently my nominations for the 2020 Book Blogger Awards! This is my first year as a double-nominee and as a nominator – as I love celebrating book bloggers who enrich my life with their bookish presence and who are socially bookish in such an engaging and friendly way. You can read my nominations and see if we share any mutuals. Likewise, as yours are all new to me, I’m looking forward to visiting with each of them and seeing what they are sharing on their book blogs!
